Child Pornography, Paganism, & C of E
July 17, 2007 – 10:24 pmIn my discussion of Gavin and Yvonne Frost, I have mentioned that they have spoken at Pagan Pride Day gatherings and that I feel they have promoted the molestation, intoxication, and torture of children. It seems Pagan Pride Day events have also featured speakers involved with Child Pornography.
“In 2003 Thomas was a featured speaker at Pagan Pride Day UK at Avebury.”
Oh but wait, this one is probably the oddest bit of Pagan perversion I have encountered yet. You see, Richard Thomas is not only a Wiccan initiate and speaker at pagan festivals, he is …
“A senior vicar and key advisor to the Bishop of Oxford [who] has been accused of a string of child porn offenses”

“Thomas has been deeply involved in pagan worship and practices and is doing a doctorate in paganism. According to the Church Times he was awarded a £1,000 ($1,700.00) bursary to meet with modern pagans and to attend their rituals in order to complete his Lambeth degree in wicca.”

The above cited article also quoted Thomas to have said to the BBC: “I believe the new Paganism has an enormous amount to teach Christianity.”
Is this what we should be proud of? Something is wrong !

I don’t get it. That quote says that the Bishop of Oxford has been accused of a string of child porn offenses, not Richard Thomas.

OK, Wait a minute now. After reading that article, you are really twisting things. Yes, Pagan Pride had Richard Thomas speak at an event in 2003. He wasn’t accused of any crimes until 2005. Do you really think Pagan Pride would have had him speak if he had been accused of child back then? Did he speak at any Pagan Pride events AFTER he was accused? Only THEN would I be concerned.

MamaGaea - Rereading what I said here in conjunction with what I have written about the Frosts, I can see how it might seem twisted. Richard Thomas is not speaking at PPP events currently and so I am not expressing outrage that PPP is or has ever hosted him.
I am expressing outrage that he and other folk who harm children exist. I mentioned him speaking at a PPP event to illustrat he was pagan and then ended with should we be proud of him as a play on the fact that he spoke at a pride event.
Ah, but now that you pointed this out, your opinion seems to indicate that you think there is a problem with PPP promoting the Frosts? Yes?
Anyway, back to the point I obviously did not successfully make, our community is tiny and yet we keep discovering pedophelia within it. Not something we should be proud about.
I think somone should start a Pagan Shame Day to achieve balance. No, seriously. Maybe not call it a Pagan Shame day, but maybe… hmmmmmm, Identify the Problem day and not cover it up for decads day.
