The Witches’s Voice and Fritz Jung

An open and public letter to and about The Witches’ Voice and its founder Fritz Jung concerning the actions and statements of its media coordinator Peg Aloi.

Before I begin, I want to be clear that I have absolutely nothing against The Witches Voice. While Fritz Jung, of the Witches’ Voice” and I have had disagreements in the past, I believe he operates a wonderful website which offers great value to the modern pagan & heathen communities. I know little of the organization known as The Witch’s Voice, so I can not speak to it specifically. In so far as our past disagreements, as far as know, these have been mended and we have a friendly relationship. As an example, I believe in our last emails I made jest about his seeming love of all things Macintosh while I am a Linux / PC sort of a guy.

So as you might imagine, it has been a very confusing time for my wife and I to read regular attacks on my character and hurtful comments on my disability, by his media coordinator, Peg Aloi. It has also been very surprising to read Peg Aloi’s public attacks on Dr. Raymond Buckland, Patricia Telesco, Scott Cunningham, Edain McCoy, Sirona Knight, Silver Ravenwolf and Lisa Mc Sherry. I believe she has publicly belittled me for my disabilities, belittled folks concern over the molestation and rape figures in the United States, and elsewhere gone so far as to belittle the opinions of family members whose children have been murdered.

But most of all, it has been flat out shocking and repulsive to read her constant support and defense of Gavin and Yvonne Frost, two people who seem to have clearly promoted the molestation, intoxication, and raping of children as young as 10 years old in the name of Wicca.

Now many folk do have strong opinions and their rights to them, such public opinions seem over the top for the media coordinator of a service which has been rather clear that they wish to remain politically neutral.

In Peg Aloi’s attacks against me and the members of Pagan Nation, I find her to be unbalanced and potential dangerous. Recently she has escalated her attacks to threats, implying that she will deliver karma unto me personally, that karma is a bitch and so is she. Although she has yet to resort to physical threats, I have witnessed such escalations by supporters of Gavin and Yvonne Frost go in this same direction.

In light of the fact that fact that the Witches Voice has a media coordinator who seems to have been rather clear that she will support and defend her friends Gavin and Yvonne Frost, I want to be perfectly clear that I can not imagine Fritz Jung doing the same. In the past, I have been a very poor judge of character. However, it is my hope that I am not wrong in my assessment of Fritz Jung. So not only do I want to be clear that I think he has no involvement in the months of attacks made by his media coordinator, but I would like to solicit his help in my efforts to educate the pagan and heathen communities as to the nature of what Gavin and Yvonne Frost have written. I would like to read a clear statement by The Witches’ Voice concerning what Gavin and Yvonne Frost have written and promoted. Are the folks at The Witches’ Voice repulsed by it as I am, or do they embrace and defend Gavin and Yvonne Frost as does their media coordinator?

As it is clear that his media coordinator will not remain neutral on the issue of what Gavin and Yvonne Frost have written and promoted, I think it is necessary to restore and maintain the good reputation of The Witches’ Voice as well as what I believe to be my good standing with Fritz Jung; for the organization to issue a public statement about their stand on the issue of what Gavin and Yvonne Frost have written. I would not like to see an organization such as the Witches Voice associated with supporting pedophilic literature because they demonstrated poor judgement in trusting Peg Aloi with a possition demanding neutrality and common sense. As I have stated, I am a horrible judge of character so chances are I would made the same mistake.

Fritz Jung, please assure me that despite your media coordinator’s undying defense of Gavin and Yvonne Frost, you can not forgive what they wrote concerning the molestation and rape of children in the name of Wicca. Please assure others of the same as your media coordinator is casting serious doubt on your organization’s reputation by association.

Would the United Negro College Fund want a member of the KKK to represent them?

In short, I currently have absolutely no reason to think The Witches Voice or Fritz Jung had anything to do with the recent attacks by their media coordinator and I have absolutely no reason to believe The Witches Voice or Fritz Jung support or defend Gavin and Yvonne Frost.

Thus I write this public letter in the hopes that Fritz Young and the other folk at the Witches Voice will assist me in ending the attacks being made by their media coordinator or at a minimum issue a statement explaining how The Witches’ Voice does not support Pet Aloi’s recent actions or her support of Gavin and Yvonne Frost. I would like to read the Witches’ Voices opinion of what Gavin and Yvonne wrote concerning the molestation and raping of children in the name of Wicca. I would like to see the air of neutrality which is obviously not practiced by their press coordinator, lifted and a clear statement made by the Witches Voice about what the Frosts have written.

Considering the many statements Peg Aloi had said at PaganNation.com, I observed: “Ya know, if you didn’t keep digging the hole, it wouldn’t be nearly as deep.”

What follows is the hole that I believe Peg Aloi has dug for herself.

06/20/07 – Peg Aloi asked “What makes you think people who have “knowingly” befriended, defended or supported the Frosts have any reason to worry about you “broadcasting” the information?”

I believe Gavin and Yvonne Frost have been clear that the teachings of their Church and School of Wicca have included the instructions to molest, intoxicate, and rape children as early as the age of 10 years old. I believe the rituals they describe involve horrific examples of incest and cruelty which must be opposed by our community. I further believe Gavin and Yvonne Frost have not apologized or retracted those teachings. I believe the current head administrator of the Church and School of Wicca has expressed great pride in the fact that Gavin Frost has not retracted his teachings. I believe that men and women of soul will think very poorly of folk who befriend, defend and / or support Gavin and Yvonne Frost after reading that book. I believe in several of the teachings of Icelandic texts, such as Havamal which as I understand it, reports to being the teachings of Odin.

Peg Aloi has been clear that she has read the book prior to defending its authors. To understand the information I am about to present, you must read that book or at least its passages.

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi said of the Witches Bible by Gavin and Yvonne Frost - “I have read the book (your apoplectic accusation notwithstanding) and I stand by my assessment.”

04/16/07 – Peg Aloi said of my objections to what the Frosts have written: “Why not live and let live?”

Before reading any of this post, I will ask that you do the same. Read the book or at least the portions presented in my blog (as much as I can without concern for violating US copyright law). Then and only then (after reading the book or quotes) should you move on to reading this account of my dealings with the Media Coordinator for The Witches Voice, Peg Aloi.

If you do not read the book or its quotes, you will not understand my outrage at Peg Aloi. If she had not said that she has read the book, I would not be as upset as I am. I would just assume she had not read the thing. You see, I find it hard to believe that any person could read the book and continue to defend the conduct of Gavin and Yvonne Frost, much less seem to go out of their way to misrepresent the book in such a way as to put the authors in a good light.

04/04/07 – “because times change. People change. Books that are reissued usually do not change. It is my understanding that the Frosts no longer recommend any of these methods (you state this in earlier email in fact).”

This is contained in Peg Aloi’s second post after her return to PaganNation.com under the alias Nightshy. Note her reference to email that has been exchanged. Yep, I wrote to the “media coordinator” for one of the Internet’s most frequented pagan websites; The Witches Voice (http://witchvox.com). My goal was to solicit assistance in my stand against Gavin and Yvonne Frost, their book, and those who have supported them these many years. Apparently, the “media coordinator” for the Witches Voice responded by attacking me and attempting to disrupt my efforts. Should I have expected this?

Earlier, Pegi Aloi was a member of Pagan Nation under the name Peg Aloi. She had come to Pagan Nation after I had taken issue with a for profit business called the “Free the West Memphis Three Support Fund.” Many members of Pagan Nation will remember this event. Yes, we were at odds on the matter. I believe the “Support Fund” was being deceptive with its name and its practices. She demonstrated totally loyalty to the business and seemed to hate me for pointing out that it was a for profit business and had never given a dime to the actual defense fund. But should I have expected her recent conduct? To be honest, I couldn’t imagine her standing up to defend Gavin and Yvonne Frost. I thought certainly the media coordinator for the Witches Voice would gladly lend a hand in standing against Gavin and Yvonne Frost. Oh how very wrong I was.

Now keep in mind, she has clearly admitted to the email preceding her returning to the forums at Pagan Nation and defending the Frosts. Thus, I must conclude that although she did not state she was here in an official capacity of the Witches Voice, that it was clearly a response to my asking the Witches Voice for help via their official media coordinator.

04/07/07 – Peg Aloi said: “Your arrogance is only superseded by your delusions of grandeur. the Frosts have been bashed by better than you in their time; they are elderly, quite harmless and rather nice people.
Best of luck with your campaign of hatred and ill-informed indignance [sic]. You must know that people laugh at you.”

As you can imagine, that set the tone for what turned out to be a campaign of constant dissinformation and attacks.

She went on to say: “You are dishonest, bullying and surprisingly ignorant of the very things you purport to be opposed to. In other words, yet another loud-mouthed, self-appointed spokesperson for the pagan community who has nothing but mediocrity to offer.”

04/07/07 – Peg Aloi said: “You also seem obsessed with my identity, as if that were somehow important. Suffice it to say, I have not had “multiple accounts” at Pagan Nation nor do I have multiple pen nanes [sic].”

Note that she was making this statement as Nightshy, her current account at PaganNation.com, not as Peg Aloi, her previous account at PaganNation.com.

In an attempt to illustrate that I am not the only person who has quoted what Gavin and Yvonne Frost have written, I provided a link to an article about them at Wikipedia.com and at Witchvox.com. In reply to these two references Peg Aloi said:

04/10/07 – On Wikipedia.com Peg Aloi said: “You mention Wikipedia like it is some sort of legitimate source. ANYONE can edit these entries and most of them contain blatant inaccuracies. I just received an email from someone this past week who noticed a glaring error in a literary topic on Wikipedia. ”

In the same post she went on to bash Wikipedia.com by saying: “That is pretty much how it works. So your “Independant (sic) Verification” is pretty much a load of crap, too.”

04/10/07 – Still talking about Wikipedia.com, Peg Aloi said: “That is my point. WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE ”

Note that we have now established that she thinks Wikipedia.com is a “load of crap” because it allows anyone to post / add information. So, knowing she was the media coordinator of the Witches Voice, I quoted an article at The Witches Voice about Pagan Predators which identified the book by Gavin and Yvonne Frost. I was attempting to provide evidence to Pegi Aloi that even the organization to which she is the media coordinator for has articles which indicate that I am not the only one who has noticed what the Frosts have written.

04/11/07 – Of the Witches Voice, Peg Aloi said: “These days The Witches’ Voice pretty much lets anyone post articles.”

Now keep in mind, she had just recently defined Wikipedia.com as “NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE” and stated that it “…is pretty much a load of crap…” because they can contribute information. It seemed to me to imply that she was willing to turn against the place she volunteers and / or works at for the purpose of defending Gavin and Yvonne Frost.

04/24/07 – Peg Aloi said: “I think the only thing you would achive[sic] in bringing Fritz into this is to waste his time and perhaps lead him to reassess his opinion of you which you seem to think is very positive at the moment.”

After I explained that Fritz of the Witches Voice and I have settled our dispute, that I freely gave him the domain Witchesvoice.com after Dorothy Morrison explained to me that it was a heartfelt loss to him, Peg Aloi publicly misrepresented my friendly relationship with Fritz of Witches Voice. Essentially, I said Fritz and I had recently exchanged friendly emails and are past the dispute we once had.

04/23/07 – Peg Aloi said: “So to act like you are “friendly” with him seems very odd to me…”

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi, who I believe, is a professional reviewer working for The Boston Phoenix
, said: “Just because all of you hysterical finger-pointers don’t know how to read a book and interpret its contexts and symbolism doesn’t mean the Frosts are child molesters.”

I agree that writing about a thing does not mean that one did that thing. However, there is clearly a defense of the book in question. That deviance being that the book contains “contexts and symbolism” which I and several others believe are the instruction on incest, child molestation, and rape in the name of Wicca. The book contains specific instructions to molest, intoxicate, and rape children in the name of Wicca. We are not discussing assumptions of “contexts and symbolism”, we are talking about an instructional which is rather clear. So here we have the Media Coordinator of the Witches Voice who I believe is employed as a professional reviewer for The Boston Phoenix, indicating there is nothing wrong with the book. That folk are just jumping to conclusions. Keep in mind, I am reasonably she is a professional reviewer. In that profession, one would certainly understand the difference between clear instruction and misunderstood “contexts and symbolism”.

04/03/07 – “Your constant insistence that the Frosts “promote child rape” is equally ridiculous. ”

The book which the Frosts continue to sell is an instructional. The Frosts in 2007 have indicated that they continue to believe the instructions in that book are valid, they have not retracted them. However, they have added that formal initiations should not be conducted today due to the chances of lawsuits. Ah, but they still recommend children having physical signs of virginity destroyed so they can enjoy sex more. In fact, Gavin Frost recently ranted about it.

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi said: “The only pagan writer I know of whose misspellings, grammar and general sloppiness equal yours is Trish Telesco. Nothing against her as a person (I do know her), but for a writer she is a bit challenged, verbally speaking. ”

Why attack a major contributor to The Witches Voice? Oh wait, that’s right. I wrote a book with Patricia Telesco a while back. So not only does Peg Aloi attack anyone who agrees with me on the book’s content, but anyone who she thinks is a friend of mine. I want to be clear that Patricia Telesco and I are not friends since I discovered she supports Gavin and Yvonne Frost.

Peg Aloi went on to say: “I have no idea why my identity is so important to you, but for what it is worth, I am neither Dorothy Morrison, nor Trish Telesco.”

04/10/07 – Despite the fact that her current account was created on 04/03/07, Peg Aloi said: “As for enlightenment, I have yet to see an example of it on this website, ever, going back several years. ”

At this point, she has obviously been asked what her pen name is, what her identity is. She refused to answer. Lied about having previously had an account at PaganNation.com and used two different names on the two different accounts. However, later she claims she has never attempted to hide her identity.

08/06/2007 – Peg Aloi said: “I have NEVER attempted to hide my identity from anyone”

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi attacks me for my disability – “Someone who has had a traumatic brain injury who seems to spend as much time typing as he does ought to be able to compose his thoughts in a word-processing program that has a spell-check function. ”

06/20/07 – While speaking of the developments in bringing what Gavin and Yvonne Frost have written to the attention of main stream press, Peg Aloi who indicated over two months prior that she was fully aware of my disability, seems to attack me on that subject again.

“If such a thing does occur, I have no doubt your appearance will be the stuff of hilarious YouTube footage for months to come. Careful what you wish for!”

Yes, I may speak funny. I may slur my speech. I may transpose my words (aphasia). I may stutter. I may do all of these things, but ya know what… my wife screamed at me once for apologizing about my disability rather than simply explaining it. That moment I realized that I still have value and did not have to cower away. With the help of my neurologist, medication, and the loving tolerance of my wife I have recovered greatly and will not let the Peg Alois of the world take that away from me.

And I think most folk agree with me. Attacking someone whom is challenged for his or her disability is cruel and uncalled for. Peg Aloi and people like her are why this year’s Main Ritual at the International Real Witches ball will be led ONLY by people with such challenges. It is our way of telling people like this to Go to Hell !

04/10/07 – Of my campaign to bring the material the Frosts have written and used as instruction for the Church and School of Wicca, Peg Aloi states:

“I don’t like lies or people trying to stir up shit in the community, and I especially don’t like it when good people are victimized by useless people.

A. J. Drew is not 1/100th the human being Gavin or Yvonne are. I think that is obvious to a lot of people (although maybe not those who frequent this website).”

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi said – “Defending the Frosts on this website is not a career goal of mine. I just hate to see good people being attacked by assholes who don’t know what they’re talking about. ”

So, the media coordinator for the Witches Voice publicly calls me an “asshole”. Now that is not very nice.

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi said – “I think they are good people because I KNOW THEM. I have known them for many years.”

So we know that she is a friend of the Frosts and we believe she is a professional reviewer. If you read the book, you will know for a fact that the Frosts have stated that the material was part of the teachings of the Church and School of Wicca. You will know that the book details the construction of dildos from nylon (a modern invention) and you will know that it is a step by step instructional. Peg Aloi must know this too as I believe she works as a professional reviewer. And yet, with apparent full understanding of what the book is (and is not) she seems to deliberately mislead people by saying:

“I personally think the material you take such offense to in the books was offered as an approximation of what they perceived to be a traditional model of initiation for adolescents from an earlier historical period in Europe. I also believe they did not intend it to be prescriptive or literal.”

“I think they got more than they ever hoped for, which is why they later retracted much of it. I am sure they now regret ever writing it because it has been widely misinterpreted. ”

In fact, the Frosts and the Church and School of Wicca has been rather firm that they have not retracted what others and I object to. Peg Aloi, being in the position she is in, should know this as she has stated that she has known them for years. It does appear here that she is deliberately misleading the public to defend Gavin and Yvonne Frost does it not?

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi said – “I stand behind my statement that the Frosts are good people because I KNOW THEM. I know their daughter and her son. I have danced with them at weddings.”

I think we are starting to see motivation for her actions here are we not?

04/10/07 – Peg Aloi said - “I may not know everything about them, but since I am a personal acquaintance of theirs I obviously am in a position to know a lot more than anyone who is involved in this online witch hunt. ”

So she believes my attempts to bring what the Frosts have instructed to light is a “witch hunt”.

04/12/07 – Peg Aloi attacks the membership of PaganNation.com – “While you mention it, I don’t know what sort of education the majority of Pagan Nation members have had; but the ones who have engaged in any of the discussions I have been part of do seem, in the majority, to be pretty uninformed and not terribly articulate. ”

04/13/07 – Peg Aloi said – “well, yes, I would like to make it clear that these baseless accusations against my friends are inappropriate.”

04/13/07 – Peg Aloi said – “You will not be remembered because you have had nothing original, intelligent or even provocative to offer. You are just one more pagan “author” who has decided he wants to make a name for himself through mediocrity. Fortunately for you, this is a very easy thing to do in the current climate. Just ask Trish Telesco, Scott Cunningham (well, okay, he is dead, but you get the idea), Edain McCoy, Sirona Knight, Silver Ravenwolf, or any of the other pagan “McWriters” who have made names for themselves by creating the same tired, badly-written, poorly-researched, derivative, plagiarized garbage for years, because unfortunately there was a public willing to shell out money for it and publishers willing to keep printing their books.”

06/20/07 – Peg Aloi said: “I am not Patricia Telesco. I also find it funny you credit her with having “fame” and being “blindly believed” because I think she is one of the most derivative, unoriginal and overrated pagan “authors” out there (but then most of them are, aren’t they?), which goes to show just how sad your jealousy of her really is.”

So now she attacks not only my books, but also those of Trish Telesco, Scott Cunningham, Edain McCoy, Sirona Knight, and Silver Ravenwolf. Note that I am not all that fond of many authors, but we are speaking about the Media Coordinator for the Witches Voice in her defense of Gavin and Yvonne Frost. Later, she just plain attacks:

08/06/07 – Peg Aloi said: “A. J. Drew (not your real name), you are a joke to the entire pagan community.”

06/20/07 – Peg Aloi said – “And I stand by my comments that self-publishing is generally seen as the sign of, well, writing that is not good enough to be accepted by a legitimate publishing house. If that includes “Dr.” Raymond Buckland, so be it. ”

So now she attacks most all self-published authors as well as Dr. Raymond Buckland for his self-publishing efforts.

04/13/07 – In further defense of Gavin and Yvonne Frost, Peg Aloi attacks Pagan Nation members again – “I have not dodged the question, I answered as I wished to. Most of these authors have written multiple books, so, no, I did not list titles because it’d be nice if somone[sic] here actually got off their fat ass and did some actual research for a change. (Not that plugging a name into Google is research, but it does involve some effort).”

04/13/07 – Peg Aloi said: “Today Washington State passed legislation ruling that a pharmacist must fill any prescription presented to them, or risk loss of their licenses, whether they think the “morning-after” pill constitutes abotion[sic] or not. In other words, it is not a pharmacist’s responsibility to save a woman from herself (or her doctor’s advice).”

Uh hugh? I am not sure how to read this. What exactly does Peg Aloi mean when she uses the word “save”? It kind of leads one to believe she is anti-choice. I can’t really be sure, but it does seem odd. To save a woman from herself? Uh hugh? She seems to be relating the abortion pill to the Frosts book but it comes off to me as being anti-choice. Read that again. Uh hugh?

04/13/07 – Now this is my absolute favorite quote. Speaking of Gavin and Yvonne Frosts instructions to molest, intoxicate, and rape children in the name of Wicca, with diagrams and charts provided by the Frosts and a statement that these were indeed the teachings of the Frosts Church and School of Wicca, Solstice asks Peg Aloi:

Solstice: “So…. If the high school health teacher gives a lecture on drug use and diagrams how to make meth, and suggests that doing as much is a ‘rite of passage’- would you think that appropriate or inappropriate?”

04/13/07 – Peg Aloi in defending Gavin and Yvonne Frost replies: “What a stupid question. Obviously, this is inappropriate, and any teacher who does this in a classroom setting should be fired. Do you know the difference between apples and oranges?”

I thought it was a rather good question as the content of The Witches Bible has been said by the Frosts to be the teachings of the Church and School of Wicca. Further, the construction of the book has reportedly been based on the Frost’s mail order school of Wicca.

As the comparison was between two “school” / educational settings: the only way I can possibly take Peg Aloi’s statement that Solstice was speaking about entirely different subjects; Sex and Drugs. All I can figure is she is saying that if a teacher instructed a minor to make and use drugs, that would be bad in Peg Aloi’s mind, but instructions and teachings on molesting, intoxicating and raping children as early as the age of 10, well that is a different subject.

04/16/07 – Peg Aloi belittles my concern about the instructions to molest, intoxicate, and rape children in the name of Wicca by calling it a ‘witch war’.

Peg Aloi – “I believe that if Witchvox responded to every inquiry or complaint related to witch wars in the pagan community, they would not have any time to do their actual work. ”

08/03/07 – In a conversation in which I took the stance that I would not let my 12 year old child run naked at a festival with heavy drug and alcohol use without my presence / guardianship (or even with I might add), Peg Aloi used a dedication in my first book to attack me as a parent. That dedication was to my father and son and the time we have not had together. At the time I made it, I had no other children. Peg Aloi made this attack without ever questioning why it is that I made the dedication in the way I did.

Peg Aloi – “I understand you are estranged from one of your children. So your advice on parenting does not really hold much credence, in my opinion.”

This was reprehensible. It seems the woman will stop at nothing to attack me. Instead, she will look for deeply personal ways to do so.

08/03/07 – Peg Aloi said – “I am not suggesting children run around naked without adult supervision, hence my earlier reference to the rules of Brushwood which state adults must supervise their children under 12 AT ALL TIMES…so using this image of a child “alone” is not really related to anything I have said so far.”

08/03/07 – Peg Aloi said – “Assaulting children is against the law, if someone does it, the authorities will punish them. But this will not happen if parents or guardians obey the rules of the campsite, and stay with their children AT ALL TIMES.”

In a conversation where several members of Pagan Nation expressed an interest in banning her from the website:

06/20/07 - Peg Aloi responded: “It also seems to be a direct slap in the face to the First Amendment, which, if I am not mistaken, is something people on this website seem to care a lot about (inability to actually understand its implications notwithstanding). ”

She seems to think that First Amendment rights allow her to force her agenda on a community, which simply does not like it. Not a surprise as she seems to feel her other agenda’s should be forced on businesses, which have not chosen to support them.

When Circuit City decided not to support one of her causes, she announced in print that doing so was censorship.

When it was suggested that funds from a benefit surrounding the murder of three children go to the families of victims or maybe to children’s charities or the likes.

Peg Aloi said; “If these parents of murdered children want to raise money for the families of victims, they can organize their own benefit activities…”

In closing, I again say that at this time, I believe Fritz Jung and the rest of the folk at The Witches Voice to be good of heart. I believe Pegi Aloi has acted on her own and the reason I am providing this information is because I believe that Pegi Aloi’s actions will be interpreted by many to denote a battle between PaganNation.com (the online community I founded) and Witchvox.com (the online community founded by Fritz Jung). Unless such battle exists, I would not want folk to have such an impression.

I further believe that because Pegi Aloi is the media coordinator for the Witches Voice and because the Witches Voice does not seem to have taken a strong stance about Gavin and Yvonne Frost, that folk will believe Pegi Aloi’s clear support and defense of not only Gavin and Yvonne Frost, but the instructions they provided which seem to rather clearly state that children as young as 10 should be molested, intoxicated, and raped in the name of Wicca, will reflect on that organization. Thus I solicit a strong statement from Fritz Jung and the Witches Voice concerning Gavin and Yvonne Frost as well as what they have written.
