Disclaimer ?
September 20, 2007 – 11:46 amConcerning the seemingly insincere disclaimer in the 2000 edition of The Good Witches Bible
“On the page preceding the Introduction and each chapter you will find an updating foreword. These forewords note the changes in the text that we would make if we were writing our Wiccan Bible today. – January 2000” - Good Witches Bible (2000 edition) – Under the contents page
Previous editions by year and their publishers listed on the nest page:
1972 – Nash
1984, 1986, 1989, 1990 – Al-Jon
1995, 2000 – Godolphin House (owned and operated by Gavin and Yvonne Frost)
So we see that the last two editions, 1995 and 2000 were essentially self published by the Frosts.
The disclaimer preceding chapter 4 is found in the forward which the 2000 edition is rather clear was added in the year 2000. I have not managed to find a 1995 edition of this book, however the contents of the 2000 edition seem to fairly clearly indicate the following:
1) The book was marketed for 28 years without the disclaimer.
2) The book was published a total of 6 separate times without the disclaimer.
3) The book was published by the Authors themselves in 1995 without the disclaimer.
Now people want to argue about the disclaimer, which essentially says that because fathers are now sued after giving their daughters baths, that you should not formally commit incest, molestation, and rape in the name of Wicca?
The Frosts lawyer thinks I should have serious doubts that the Frosts have committed incest, child molestation, and rape due to this disclaimer. I am confused as I do not think they had children in or after the year 2000 when it seems the disclaimer was added. Now if that disclaimer had been in the book prior to the Frosts having children, I might not feel the way I do.
Wow!
In closing: If anyone can find me a copy of the 1995 edition of The Good Witches Bible or maybe it was published as The Witches Bible, I would be more than willing to pay a fair price.
