Kentucky Celtic Festival 2007
October 3, 2007 – 5:14 pmThis was the second year for the Kentucky Celtic Festival to use the Kentucky Highlander Renaissance Festival grounds. A good time was had by all.
Above, Missie helps Stephanie lace up her bodice. Missy is a playtron who has been working for us on and off. Stephanie is from Blue Flame Leather, a wonderful leather worker, and fellow crafter at both the Kentucky and Ohio fairs.
Someone offered to buy Stephanie a beer if she modeled one of the leather bras I had on display. Then someone offered me a beer not to model one of the leather bras I had on display.
Sales seemed to increase when Stephanie changed into that leather bra. It stayed on for the better part of the day. Hmmm, I think we are on to something here. Sex sells… go figure.
Most festivals have one blacksmith. The Kentucky fair has two. This is Tony and his wife. Tony is the other village blacksmith. His focus is ornamental forgings where mine is weapons. We do some of the same things, but rarely step on each other’s toes. In fact, he has been very helpful. Incidentally, other than myself Tony is the only person to build his own building the first year of the fair. I think that says something about blacksmiths and resourcefulness. Well, that or stupidity as nobody builds during the first year.
Time for a drink. This is Holly. She is our favorite bartender.
The bar at the Kentucky site has a window off to the side for when they get busy. There is a full counter inside the Great Hall but I like the side window better. It feels like I am being sneaky.
I like all of the owners that I have met, but this one stands out. This is Ludmillia who always has a smile, even when the sky is falling down. I adore her contagious attitude. It always gives me a lift right when I need it.
Brazing Lady’s Garden Pond gives me something to shoot for next year. Her booth went from plain to incredible between my last visit and this weekend. I am inspired.
Here is the thing. My garden pond is going to have to have something to do with fire or smoke. After all, I am a blacksmith. Hmmmmmm.. Be afraid…
Nobody was really sure when the band was supposed to stop playing. I don’t recall when they finally did. Nobody wanted the evening to end. If you have a chance to attend this event next year (dates to be announced), I assure you that a good time will be had.

Cool!!!!! I wanted to go but life decided to over run plans.
Do you know of anyone who makes coronets and are good but don’t want big bucks????? AND can do something on short notice? (yep I want the world on a string too)
I have written to a couple like Drachenstein Treasures and they don’t respond.
I would think these merchants would want money. I know I do!
