CUUPS still Supports Gavin and Yvonne Frost
January 27, 2008 – 11:27 pmOn January 4, 2008 Gavin and Yvonne Frost’s blog reported:
“Last Sunday we gave a presentation at the local fellowship of the Unitarian-Universalist Association. “

At first, hearing that that Gavin and Yvonne Frost are involved with UU and CUUPS might not seem surprising. Maybe CUUPs and UU is not aware of the content of the Frosts Witch’s Bible / Good Witch’s Bible. Maybe CUUPs hasn’t read the quotes:

It might seem innocent enough to read about the Frosts being brought speaking at House of Akasha in Greensboro, NC by Sarah McDavid. Maybe Sarah McDavid doesn’t know what the Frosts wrote. Maybe the other folk interviewed in the following article and / or attending the presentation by the Frosts just haven’t read the book. Maybe the N.C. Piedmont Church of Wicca in Piedmont, NC (also mentioned in the article) haven’t a clue either. Maybe Greensboro’s Daryl Bush (also mentioned in the article) doesn’t have a clue. And maybe the UU mentioned in the article doesn’t have a clue either.

After all, the article is dated April 7th, 2007 and although the book was originally printed in 1972, CUUPs didn’t seem to publicly notice it until their Vice President staged my ritualistic murder with an assault rifle.
Jill Marie Combs, the Vice President of CUUPS (Covenant of Unitarian Universialist Pagans) at the time solicited the help from a mailing list belonging to Circle Sanctuary with a ritual in which my effigy was shot repeatedly with an assault rifle. No kidding, I couldn’t make this stuff up.

I expressed a bit of concern that the leader of such a respected organization would do such a thing. Later, she even went to he point of stating that she was attempting to silence my expression of outrage as if talking about such things is a bad thing.
A respected founding member of CUUPS stepped in and spoke up and I learned that CUUPS was reportedly working on a statement of sexual ethics in response to the outrage many members felt upon hearing about the Frost’s book. Although I have yet to receive an apology from CUUPS, Circle Sanctuary, or Pagan Pride (where Jill Marie Combs was a regional coordinator at the time); she was suddenly no longer the Vice President of CUUPS.
I received scores of letters from CUUPS members stating that they opposed Gavin and Yvonne Frost now that they read what is contained in The Good Witch’s Bible / The Witch’s Bible. Many expressed a level of disgust and hostility that even I have yet to express.
Well, it looks like it is business as usual at the UU. Gavin and Yvonne Frost seem to be back in good graces and even offering presentations at their functions. On a side note, I have been informed that Gavin and Yvonne Frost were paid for this and other presentations with CUUPS / UU funds.
It seems that when CUUPs is in a hot spot, they dodge the bullet by announcing reform. But when things settle down, nothing has changed. It is still full of folk who will promote the Frosts as long as they can get away with it.
This, folks, is the Pagan Community. No, it is not all of the pagan community. But it is a very large and significant percentage of the Pagan Community. A large enough and significant enough percentage to include one of our most respected organizations; CUUPS
I say if you are a member of CUUPs or any other organization who will not take a clear stand against the works of Gavin Frost, Yvonne Frost, and ilk who write and promote such material, you should cancel your membership and never again allow YOUR MONEY to fuel the promotion of people such as these.
