Pagan Pride Plots according to Medicine Heart
February 8, 2008 – 10:36 pmSome time ago, I took issue with a Pagan Pride event which hosted Gavin and Yvonne Frost. I felt that it was wrong to give the public the impression that Pagans could possibly be proud of the people who produced one of the most shameful book in modern pagan history. It turned out that the Pagan Pride event I was referencing was not an official Pagan Pride Project international event. It simply shared the same name.
Pagan Pride Project international announced this to their email list, hinting that hey do not support Gavin and Yvonne Frost despite the fact that the Frosts were scheduled at that very time to appear at official Pagan Pride Project international events. I pointed out the emails I have received from folk claiming to have purchased The Good Witch’s Bible at official Pagan Pride Project International events and the response was that the regional coordinator for the Pagan Pride Project for my area announced publicly that she created an effigy of me and shot it 80 times. A murder in effigy. I later discovered Jill Marie Combs (aka Jill Medicine Heart Combs) was working with Mystie Dragonfly, a woman identified to me by a mental health practitioner as being a potential threat. Evidently, the woman had spent over a year blogging about how every thing bad in her life was my doing despite my being totally and completely unaware of her everyday life and almost her existence. All I can imagine doing to her was telling her that instead of trying to create a pagan community center on her own, she should hook up with an existing group in her area like the Pagan Community Council of Ohio. That she is on disability and as such, I think the demands of a full time job like that would be way too much.
I figured my murder in effigy was something cooked up either by these two or by Jill Marie Combs alone. I kind of wondered why it was that neither Pagan Pride Project nor CUUPS ever bothered to issue an apology. After all, the publicly posted emails in which she described my murder in effigy started with:
“Jill Medicine Heart Combs / Jill Marie Combs
Vice President of Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans
Ohio Valley Regional Coordinator”
The Ohio Valley Regional Coordinator is a reference to her position with Pagan Pride Project. So basically, the description went out on what amounts to the email equivalent of the organization’s letter head. Well, I think I have the answer to why it was that I received no apology.
Recently, Jill Marie Combs posted another public email about me. This time it was posted to the email list of Convocation, an event where she is speaking in Michigan. An event which broke my contract and removed my merchant tables because they felt that I was planning some sort of symbolic violence against Gavin and Yvonne Frost. Reportedly, encouraging violence is against their mission statement. In that public email, Jill Marie Combs / Jill Medicine Heart Combs spoke about the ritual in which she fired 80 rounds into what she once called an effigy, once a poppet, and now a target of me:
“It was agreed upon a certain few of us on the Board of that organization to do magick on a particular day.”
Ah, now what organization was she publicly stating had members of the Board helping her? In the earlier email Jill Marie Combs / Jill Medicine Heart Combs said:
“I cannot go into details, but I am doing some serious magickal work to help protect our Pagan Pride International as we are under attack. I am also working on doing some magickal work to help protect those who are joining in on this attack on Pagan Pride. I wish I could go into details, but this is a matter of urgency to protect the name of a organization that has done good for you for over 10 years!”
Back to today’s interesting tid big. She has now announced that she goes armed / carries a gun. She made the announcement in the public email list belonging to Convocation, the event where she is speaking this month. The same event that cancelled my contract and removed my merchant tables stating that my path and their mission statement were not in line. They later expanded that statement by telling their email list that I was conducting some sort of simulated violence.
I do not know why she felt it necessary to warn people that she goes armed, why she had to demand that she is not Wiccan, and yada yada. I was simply commenting that it seems odd that Convocation would claim that their breaking my contract and removing my merchant tables while having this pistol-packing pagan who conducts my murder in effigy speak at the event. It seems like Convocation’s agenda is other than what they are stating to their email list.
And that is what his post is about. People and Organizations which have an agenda other than what they state to the members of that organization. In the case of Convocation I think the explanation is simple. They want to make sure people come in the door and give them money. But what about organizations such as Pagan Pride.
Openly they indicated that he Frosts are not speakers at Pagan Pride Project events. They choose not to address the fact that numerous people report that not only does Pagan Pride Project have the Frosts speak at their events, but hat numerous people report seeing the book The Good Witch’s Bible available at those events. Publicly they indicate that they are being civil in the matter, considering the points I have made, but apparently according to one of their Regional Coordinators, Marie Combs / Jill Medicine Heart Combs, their Board members have been secretly conducting some sort of black magick on my dumb Yeti rear end. Why? Well, according to Marie Combs / Jill Medicine Heart Combs it is because:
“I despise Fundie Pagans who think that their First Amendment rights should infringe on how an organization should run—”
Because an author has used Freedom of the Press. Because a citizen has used Freedom of Speech. She said this with the email address of vicepresident@cuups.org. She included letter head which read:“Jill Medicine Heart Combs / Jill Marie Combs
Vice President of Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans
Ohio Valley Regional Coordinator”
Because a Pagan uses his First Amendment Rights.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. “
No joke guys. While she is not the Vice President of CUUPS anymore, she continues as an officer there. She continues as an officer at PPP International and she is a scheduled speaker at his year’s Convocation up in Michigan. The funny thing is, folk sometimes express the idea that I am a nut case for thinking there is a hidden agenda at work.
When the Vice President of CUUPs (one of the most respected pagan organizations) demands that she hates people using their First Amendment Rights, there is something very, very wrong. When Pagan Pride Project International continues to support her, to the point of covertly planning and plotting her efforts against an author’s First Amendment rights, there is something very, very wrong. When events like Convocation support people like this while breaking the contract with another because he has used his First Amendment Rights, there is something very, very wrong.
Folk, there is something very, very wrong within the Pagan Community.
