Pagan Big Brother

The Pagan Big Brother

“It’s like we’ve got our very own Pagan Big Brother. See, Paganism can be mainstream. Aren’t we proud?”

http://fenixmage.blogspot.com/2007/10/what-sort-of-insinuation-do-we-have.html

A blogger at Blog Spot thinks that because I blog about the Frosts that I am an example of Big Brother at work. Evidently she has not read the novel from whence that term came. Blogging is a form of Freedom of Speech, something that Big Brother would not smile upon. It is the free expression of opinion in a way that allows readers to make decisions for themselves.

Those who would silence this Freedom of Speech, this Freedom of Expression, this phenomena called Blogging; those are the people who lend themselves to the structures of Big Brother.

The author of that blog indicates that I mislead my readers in stating that the Spirit Weavers event at which the Frosts were speaking was private. Although she provides a link to my blog, she did not provide a link to the quotes from my blog. Here’s the link to the entry she quoted:

http://ajdrew.blogs.pagannation.com/2007/10/03/spirit-weavers-of-toledo-oh/

You will note that there is nothing in that entry which states that the event is open only to members of Spirit Weavers. I believe I had originally included that information and cited my source but later removed it when I discovered the claim was a lie and that the public was welcome. The source of that lie being Gavin Frost who in part stated:

“We will attend the Samhain Spirit Festival Fireheart in Toledo, Ohio. Please note: To attend the festival, you must currently be a member of Spirit Weavers”

The author of that blog also takes issue with my comment about how children 13 – 17 receive a 50% discount, but no mention of their parents is mentioned. I find it odd that children would be welcome without their parents especially when the speakers seem to have openly instructed in the sexual initiation of children as well as stated that they practice what they taught.

Some Questions:

1 - Is it not a long-standing principle within the pagan community that children not be taught without the parent’s permission?

2 – If a 13 year old is to attend a pagan event where two of the teachers have written, published, and stated they have practiced what seems to be the sexual initiation of 13 year olds (and younger), should the parents of that 13 year old not be made aware of the content of that book?

3 – Does the pagan community now think it is Big Brother like to blog about these questions? Not to censor or otherwise ban the event or its speakers, but to speak, to inform, to blog about it?

Due to what the Frosts wrote concerning the sexual initiation of children (with the help of their fathers no less), I will continue to inform and educate anyone who hosts Gavin and Yvonne Frost at their events as well as their potential guests. As you might have noticed, I believe the Church and School of Wicca, as founded by Gavin and Yvonne Frost, is a dangerous organization & I feel I have every right to inform people of the dangers I perceive.

Do I think Spirit Weavers is attempting to solicit children for sexual initiation into the perverted tradition the Frosts have presented in that book and titled The Church and School of Wicca? Probably not directly. However, it seems they are obviously attempting to attract children and it does not seem like they care if those children bring their parents. In fact, from the objections to my blogging about Gavin and Yvonne Frost, the Church and School of Wicca, and events which promote both; that there is a general feeling within the pagan community that parents should not be informed about their teachings and stated conduct with children in the name of Wicca.

Ultimately, the real question concerning Spirit Weavers of Toledo, Ohio is a question of proper conduct and what the pagan community feels proper conduct is. Is it proper to solicit the attendance of children to an event at which Gavin and Yvonne Frost speak without informing those children’s parents of what these people have written concerning children?

I think not. I think that if Spirit Weavers of Toledo, Ohio and other organizations which continue to promote Gavin and Yvonne Frost and / or the Church and School of Wicca want to be honest with themselves and the public, they will inform parents of what the Frosts have written, of what the foundation of the Church and School of Wicca contains.

If we groups such as this are honest, they will embrace the truth and provide parents with the ability to decide for themselves if the event is appropriate for their children. If, on the other hand, they want to conduct themselves as would a dangerous cult, by all means object to people like myself who seek to share that truth, cover it up, and hide it away so parents can continue to think the pagan community is nothing but happy, happy, joy joy without being made aware of potential threats.

Now tell me again, which party line is more like the Pagan Big Brother? The one that seeks to openly discuss the truth or the one that wants to bury it?

  3. Shadowhawk - Because it just now came up as a link back per Google or Alexa & thus included in the link back section of the blog software here at http://PaganNation.com. I do not, as evidently you do, frequent blogs much now a days. But when my blog tells me there is a link back from another site, I do take a peek.

Basically, if bloggers want other bloggers to notice their sites and exchange opinions back and forth, they put links to the other blogs and the search engines (if you submit and use good software) do the rest; letting people know who is reading and responding to what. I don’t think the majority of commercial services offer the feature. Not sure really, but I do know that adding a link to a person who uses software that tracks such is a good way to get noticed if Google and Alexa pick it up.

Rather than discussing an issue or a blog entry such as this, folk like yourself do little more than threaten and banter attempting to silence Freedom of Speech and Expression & folk like me watch as people begin to understand how supporters of Gavin and Yvonne Frost conduct themselves.

As an example, to a recent log entry you demanded that I lied about Gavin and Yvonne Frost claiming they followed the teachings in that book. I replied with a quote from the 2000 edition & you haven’t bothered to reply. Why not actually talk about the issue rather than simply attacking people who do?
